Music City Showdown
The inaugural WrestleWar was an NWA PPV event that took place on May 7, 1989 at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee. It featured the televised rubber match between Ric Flair & Ricky Steamboat in their legendary series of matches from early 1989. The main event featured Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat defending the NWA World Heavyweight Championship against the “Nature Boy” Ric Flair in a singles match, with Terry Funk, Pat O'Connor and Lou Thesz as guest ringside judges to determine a winner in case the match went to the full 1-hour time limit.
